Joyce Guthrie was fortunate to escape with her life as tornadoes ripped through Mayfield, Kentucky.
But Joyce’s two cats, Po and Zeus, were not so lucky. When the woman from Kentucky got home, she saw that her home had been demolished. Worse, her beloved dogs had gone missing.

Fortunately, after three days of searching, Joyce discovered her orange cat, Po, hidden beneath a neighbor’s demolished house. “Guys, miracles continue to happen!!” Joyce’s daughter congratulated her mother on Facebook, where she was writing about her mother’s lost pets. “One was discovered today!!” Her tiny all-orange daughter, who has been saved twice, is back with my mother!!!”
Joyce’s second cat is still missing, so mother and daughter are hoping for a second miracle. “Po was beneath that home, and I’m hoping Zeus is as well,” Joyce told WSIL News 3. “I’ve gone over there rattling goodies, phoning and chatting to him…but he’s terrified, scared.”

Joyce described Zeus as a huge, peaceful orange-and-white cat, however her pet has most likely lost weight over this stressful period. Regardless, Zues’s owner is frantic to rescue her lost cat before moving to Tennessee, probably since her home was destroyed by the storm. “I’m missing most of my furniture and belongings, but I don’t mind as long as I find my kitties,” Joyce explained.
If you encounter a lost cat that matches Zeus’ description, please contact Joyce’s daughter through Facebook.
Meanwhile, Greater Good is seeking funds to assist other individuals and dogs injured by the catastrophic storms that ravaged Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Please make a quick donation to help us with our relief efforts.
