This story speaks about a dog called Emmy who was abandoned by her family in freezing temperatures in Ecorse, Michigan. The dog tried her best to stay warm by curling up in a ball in hopes that she would be found soon. Thankfully, she was seen by rescuers, who at first thought that she was snow as she was covered in snow.
A board member for P.O.E.T. Animal Rescue, Lauren Boesen said that the winds were 30 mph with temperatures less than 5 degrees Fahrenheit. After rescuing her, the P.O.E.T. Animal Rescue talk Emmy to a veterinary clinic for a checkup and be given the medicals she needed.
They found that there were pressure sores on both her knees and elbows, and fleas all over her body as she was badly emaciated. The vet team was not sure that she would be able to make it. Unfortunately, Emmy was in desperate need of an emergency vet team after just a few hours from being rescued.
As she tended to her wounds and was still freezing, their aim was to get her body temperature up. After a few days, the veterinarians were able to let her temperature be stable. She was then ready to be fostered. Thankfully, the P.O.E.T. Animal Rescue found a foster home for Emmy, who was taken to it Boesen.
Boesen said that Emmy was very lovely in the foster home just days before the Christmas. In her foster home, she wore matching holiday pajamas and snuggled underneath a Christmas tree. She will be available for adoption in just a few weeks. What a happy ending!
